A Little Something About Us

Norma (Sharp) Counce and Gail Broadwater are designers of over 300 continuous line designs specifically for use on long and short arm quilting machines. Their combined experience of 40 years in the machine quilting industry provides them with the background necessary for producing unique, well distributed interlocking machine quilting designs to enhance your customer’s quilts.

Norma Counce began longarm quilting in September 1979 with the purchase of her first quilting machine. The necessity for good, interlocking, simple quilting designs led to her first original continuous line design, the Rose Vine. Operating as Norma’s Quilt Shop, Norma began to produce her designs by hand for distribution in 1982. Demand for her designs led to the implementation of equipment to mass-produce. Norma’s Quilt Shop formally became Simple Quilting Stitches in 1990. Norma is certified as a National Quilting Association teacher, is a founding member of International Machine Quilters Association, Sew Busy Quilt Guild, Northeast Arkansas Quilt Arts Guild, Wirth It All Sewing Group and is also a member of American Quilters Society and National Quilters Association. Norma received the Lifetime Achievement award from the Machine Quilters Showcase/IMQA in 2002.

Gail Broadwater began her longarm quilting career in 1982 with the purchase of her first longarm quilting machine. Gail is a founding member of International Machine Quilters Association and Sew Busy Quilt Guild as well as a member of National Quilters Association and International Quilt Association. Gail has machine quilted for the public for 23 years, served as President of IMQA for 7 years and as Director of Machine Quilters Showcase for 2 years.

Simple Quilting Stitches is a family owned and operated business. Our goal is to provide friendly, fast, efficient service to the family of longarm and shortarm machine quilters and provide the designs necessary to make your quilting endeavors successful and profitable.
